From Vyssi Brod to vivid Budweis
Your trip starts in Vyssi Brod, where a small lake after a hydroelectric dam offers an excellent starting position to get used to the water. Vyssi Brod is known for having one of the larges monasteries in the Czech Republic. Behind the monastery is one of the last sections of primeval forest in Central Europe. The river brings you to a small romantic village of Rozmberk, where the white castle sits peacefully on a hilltop surrounded by evergreens. Then you will paddle quietly among the forest to the unesco medieval town of Cesky Krumlov, but before you arrive there you have to make your way through a lot of fun sluices. Explore all the cultural highlights of this town in your day off, such as exploring the second largest fortress in the Czech Republic, or going to an open air play. If you feel like you haven’t moved enough it is also possible to ascend to the highest mountain of the region from Cesky Krumlov. From Cesky Krumlov you will go into more quiet water and paddle towards Zlata Koruna, which is a renowned monastery with one of the most impressing book collections in the Czech Republic. On your last day as you paddle to Budweis you see the mountains getting lower in height, which means that you are getting closer to the end of the trip. Along the way you have the opportunity to explore the ruins of an old fortress, Divci Kamen. Finally you arrive in Budweis, which has the largest square market place in Central Europe where you can enjoy a freshly brewed Budweiser beer.
